Review: ES A244 Lashes (KKCenterHK)

Hi lovelies,

It's time for another review. This time, fake lashes, because we all love them! :)
I was sent these lashes for review purposes by KKCenterHK,  the lashes can be found here.

From the site, you get to know that they come without the glue (there's some serious Engrish going on that site), but in a box (as seen above). You get 10 pairs of lashes for the decent price of $10.48.
Of course, I got cheaper lashes from Ebay to which they are quite comparable.

The eyelashes curl easily, are light and are long lasting (you need to clean them!).
I applied one pair on a friend of mine who had to go to an event (which lasted for HOURS - I'm talking 12h) and the lashes stayed on without a problem. I gave her a mini glue to take along, but she didn't need it.

So after that mini test, I decided it's my turn to test them.
I applied makeup as usual (well a tad darker, for cam whoring you see), and applied the false lashes with my glue (it's actually mean for the crease but it's superb for lashes also).

I'm no expert when it comes to applying lashes to myself (I prefer to apply them to others), so it took me a while to get it right. Then I curled and coated them in mascara so they would blend in better.

And ta-dah!

They are very dramatic, nothing you'd use for school/work (well maybe some girls).

Can you see how big they are? Luckily after a couple of minutes, I forgot I was wearing them!

Big lashes!

Smile for the camera ;D!

Now that I've bombarded you with so many pictures, it's time to come to a conclusion.

Pros:
+ You get 10 pairs (so it's about 1$ for a pair)
+ You can re-use them
+ They make your eyes HUGE looking
+ Very dramatic
+ They are easy to apply
+ I like that they look matte in photos (without the hideous reflection)

Cons:
- The glue isn't included
- You get similar quality on Ebay for much less money
- Not for day wear (too dramatic)

Price: 3/5
Rating: 3/5

Overall
Even if I like the lashes, they are too dramatic for day wear (for me). I really like the fact that they would stay on for the whole day and wouldn't budge (that was my biggest concern). A huge plus is that they are matte and not shiny (I hate that!). They are actually pretty good, but I'm sure you can find cheaper ones elsewhere (or even on the same site!).

Guess What?

Hi dears dolls,

Today I have a small game for you (just for fun!). Can you guess what I got for review purposes (and later I'll give away the same thing except brand new)? :D

It's soft, black and just the right size. It came in the gorgeous purple bags..

So what is it?

NOTD: Claire's Mood Polish Happy/Earthy

Hi,

Today I have a post for you all, which is about a nail polish that changes color. I was giggling when I read that girls were actually surprised that it does change color. Well honestly if a product says it does that, I'd be only surprised if it didn't change color! :D

Anyway Happy/Earthy is a gorgeous green polish that goes from forest green to neon yellow. It actually changes color all the time. But most of the time the nails are yellow with green tips.
Yellow = hot, Green = cold.

It's gorgeous! It needs 3 coats and even then you can still see the nail line. Tho when it's green it's not visible, only when it is yellow.
It is also hard to capture on the camera.

Plus it chipped the next day! :< I reapplied the polish on that nail but it chipped again! Even with top coat. So it's not long lasting, which is a real shame.

Would you wear it? I got lots of compliments about it! ^^

Review: Retractable Green Powder Brush (Born Pretty Store)

Hi!

Today I have another brush review for you all. This one got me very excited so I was super happy when I finally got it!

The design is gorgeous, green and shiny. I also liked the blue version a lot (Brand New Blue Retractable Powder Blush Brush Makeup), but at that point, I didn't realize it is also sold separately (and not in packs of 10). That's why I got the green one.

You can see it's really pretty! But there's a problem.

You see the part where the cover 'stops' (where you put the cover on when the brush is retracted)? Well, you see it's high up? And not UNDER the retractable part? That causes a problem. An annoying and ugly problem.
If your brush is closed and you turn it upside down, the inside part moves, so you get an elongated version of your brush (with the cover on).

You can't really see it on pictures, that's why I made a quick video showing it.
I thought that only my brush was defective, but then I realized that it's the brush design that is faulty! So they all must be like this!

Which is really a shame, because the brush itself is great. It has soft and firm bristles, and I use it for mineral foundation or setting powder on the go.

The cleansing wasn't problematic (I was afraid it would shred, but it didn't) and also the drying was fine (I dried it on the side).

It's also great for taking with you because it's quite sturdy. It survived a lot of days in my purse without a scratch.

Pros:
+ Gorgeous looking Brush
+ Actually a great brush!
+ Cheap
+ Comes in different colors
+ It's easy to wash (I didn't think it would be)
+ Travel-friendly
+ The side is also great because it's big enough for an even application and small enough for traveling.

Cons:
- It doesn't close as it should (look at the video)

Price: 4/5 ♥ ($5.62)
Rating: 2/5

Overall
I'd give it a better score if it weren't for the faulty patent. I mean the brush is fantastic, great bristles. But I really dislike the way it's made. I think they should reconsider their whole line design because it's really annoying. I mean alright the graphic design is lovely, but the patent is just. annoying. It's too bad because otherwise I really like this brush.

Review: 7 Pieces Brush Set (Born Pretty Store)

Hi, everyone!

I was sent this brush set from the Born Pretty Store for review purposes. I picked it myself from their site ( New 7 Pcs Pink Makeup Brushes Cosmetic Set Kit w/ Case), and I was expecting it to be pink. I mean pink casing and brushes.

But sadly the images are a bit deceiving because the brushes are actually black!

Let's move to the pictures.
This is how the pouch looks like. It's pink and shiny. It is very similar to the one I got from Ebay. I think it's faux leather, very soft.

The brushes are all nice and covered. So you don't lose them while transporting them from one place to another.

Here they are! From left to right:
Lash & Brow Comb (Dual Tips)
Lipstick Brush
Angled brush
Small Lip Line Brush
Small round Eyeshadow Brush
Large round Eyeshadow Brush
Blusher/Powder Brush

To be honest, I didn't exactly use as what they are mean The 'large' round eyeshadow brush was sometimes used for concealer (it works fantastically with that!). Also, the angled brush is great for filling in your brows - just enough thick and soft.

I was expecting the brushes to be of the same quality as the ones I got from Ebay (for a similar price, 7 pieces), but they are not. I thought they would be scratchy and hard to use. Weirdly enough they are not.

They are very firm and soft and work a lot better than the brushes I have from Muller (I only have 1 left, but it's scratchy - it's around 3€).

I am impressed. The lip brush came in a weird shape (you can see in the photo below), but that's nothing a bit of washing can't fix.

I also thought the brushes will shred like crazy, but they don't! Again I am impressed. They did shred a bit with the first wash, but nothing unusual.

But truth to be told, I don't have a lot of brush experience. Until now (I bought two sets of brushes a while ago) I didn't have a lot of brushes. I had about 30 of them in total. I know that some more expensive ones (like the stippling brush from Sephora!) shred like crazy and some cheaper don't (Essence Powder Brush).

Pros:
+ They are actually good.
+ They don't shred much (except a hair during the first wash).
+They are CHEAP!
+ The bristles are very soft and firm, quite dense.
+ Eyeshadow/Blush apply is really easy with them (they pick the right amount of product).

Cons:
- From the website pictures, I thought they were PINK!
- The dual comb is crap. I mean I'm used to hard bristles of the 2nd side, but damn I thought that because everything else is soft, that this one will be also!
- I'm not sure what are they made of (but I think it's synthetic because the bristles of the dual comb are synthetic, + when I burned a hair from each brush it smells like plastic at most, so I think it's Taklon)

Price: 5/5 ♥ ($7.17)
Rating: 4/5

Overall:
In comparison to the ones I already own these are quite good. Actually, some of them became my favorite after the first try. I would recommend these to the ones that don't use brushes yet, but would like to try (and don't want to spend a fortune for them). And some would work great also for the pros out there. I took one heart from the rating because the official pictures are deceiving.

Tutorial: Cleaning up your nails

Hi,

I know we've all been there. You just applied your favorite nail polish and some got over the nail. Oh no, what to do now?!
It's really simple actually. All you need is a small brush (I'm using an angled nail art brush) and some nail polish remover. The remover should be strong enough to clean the polish in some swipes. Not too many, because you probably would get bored with that. I know I did, when I was using a really mild remover that didn't remove a thing this way.

Here's a short video tutorial on how I do it. Please enjoy!

I'd be more than glad to hear your thoughts.

Duality Drawing

Hi dears,

As you may know, I seldom draw. That's because I am super lazy and also because my tablet driver didn't work correctly. Until now. I will post some of my drawings here, since I deleted myself from deviantart.
For those interested, I have a Wacom Graphire 2 (yes it's super old and ugly looking, but it still works!).

I wanted to draw something and then I realized that I should draw something for my sister. And this is what I came up with. And for the whole time I was listening to Take That. Damn them and their conspiracy theories :P.

I know that there are a lot of things off, but I honestly don't care. :P I like it this way. Maybe next time I'll pay more attention to anatomy. But I LIKE super long bodies, lol.

What do you think? (you can click on the image for better view).

NOTD: Deborah Shine Tech 17

Hi!

I have short nails again. One of them broke when I went for a walk with my dog. Auch :(. But anyway that was the perfect time to shorten them all and try a new nail polish from Deborah. I got it for free with my other Deborah nail polish (Sense Tech 10).

This shade has an interesting story. I didn't like it until I found some pictures on another blog. Since then I was in love with it. But the thing is.. 7€ is way too much for a nail polish you don't really need, no?

Now I finally got it and it reminds me of Essie It's Genius (Winter 08). o.O It's not exactly the same, Deborah 17 is more complex. But still I used Essie It's Genius for the base, and over it I layered Deborah. That's because this nail polish is REALLY sheer. I read it needs about 5 thin coats (or 3 really thick ones). Ew, ew and ew!

In the shadow it looks kind of boring...

But in the sun it is gorgeous..

I like it quite a lot. I only wish it would be good for other than layering. I mean I LOVE opaque polishes.. :( But anyway it is still gorgeous.

New Piercing! Anti Helix MD

Hi everyone!

I wanted to get a new piercing and since I wasn't ready for a septum piercing I decided to go with something more common. An Anti-helix piercing. But I walked out with a MD (micro dermal) instead of a 'real' piercing.

It's really an experiment but I am sure it will work out just awesome. Actually it's going to be legendary :D!

Here's my experience diary.

Today I came to the idea that I should get myself pierced. I really liked the anti-helix and so I decided that this is it. I'm not a huge fan of cartilage piercings but what the heck, I wanted to get pierced today. And what's the most common piercing? Well ear piercings are very well accepted so I went with that.

That's why I called my piercer and made an appointment. I was supposed to show up a couple of hours later so I was super excited! Because I was of the mentality now or never, lol.

My ear is widely shaped and she couldn't do the piercing as I wanted it (she told me that before we started) so she suggested me being her experiment. She said that we could try putting a micro dermal in there. I was up to it,..
I wanted a low frontal helix, but not as you normally see it. I also don't like BRCs.

I picked my bling bling front part of the m. anchor and we were ready to go.
She told me to go check the marking, and because I wanted it to be a bit lower she gave me the toothpick with the ink on it and I marked it myself. :P

It didn't really hurt. I'd say 1.5/10. I was expecting it to hurt like a bit*h but nooo.. it was fine! I wasn't scared because why should I be, it's just a tiny hole.. lol? I didn't feel the adrenaline rush (what, am I immune to it lol?) but I was veeeery happy when I saw my new piercing! It was done so quickly that I have no idea what she did. I suspect she used the punch and taper method. I'm not sure, I am just speculating here. After all I can't see my own ears.

This is my first microdermal and we'll see how it goes. So far it doesn't hurt anymore, but I can feel that something is there (lets say it's a bit sore?). Hopefully it won't reject or anything and maybe this will be the new IT piercing?

At this point I have to add that A LOT of people have told me (on the  piercing community) that there's no way it's going to last (or that it will take a LONG time to heal and even then it's not 100% it will heal) and that it was a stupid idea. But at this point I really don't give a damn about what they think. I will firmly believe it will heal just lovely (because after all it's usually about belief and care). And even if it will reject, I will enjoy every single day of this journey!

After two days it's been fine, it doesn't hurt if I don't touch it. It's not sore. If I touch it I know it's there and I can feel it being a bit tender, but that is it. I got some random throbbing for a couple of seconds, but no warmness or similar stuff (tho my tragus piercing was being a bit*h the day I got the MD).

And some pictures.

YAY! :D I will make another post in a couple of months, well when it will be healed. Or if anything goes wrong, which hopefully won't! :)

OH and if you want to know what a micro dermal anchor is, read here.

That's it for today's entry. :)
Please share your thoughts, I don't bite.
