CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Today I want to talk about a cream I've been using for the past several months. It's been more than 7 months to be exact.
I got the huge tub for saving purposes - there's a whopping 454g of product in the tub. It's huge, I mean amazingly huge if you love that stuff.
If it's your first time trying it, I'd pick a smaller package.

In fact, when I first tried it I got the 50g version. I ordered it thrice before biting the bullet and going jumbo size.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream acts as both by effectively hydrating as it helps restore the skin’s protective barrier. Developed with dermatologists and ideal for dry and very dry skin on the face and body, this rich, non-greasy, fast-absorbing moisturizing cream features patented MVE Delivery Technology to release a steady stream of hyaluronic acid and three essential ceramides throughout the day and night. Suitable for sensitive skin, this oil-free and fragrance-free ceramide cream also helps the skin hold on to moisture while improving its look and feel.

I started using the CeraVe Moisturizing cream when I started using active ingredients. Like acids. I needed something basic to bring my skin back to life. Something nourishing without many active ingredients to fix my skin barrier.

This year I'm not using acids but I'm using retinol. And I still need something basic to help with restoring my skin barrier.

I'm not saying that you need to use acids or retinol to be using this very basic cream, no.

This jumbo tub comes with 454g of cream. That's a lot. The opening is also huge and that's why I prefer to use smaller pots. I put some of the product into a smaller tub and ta-dah! problem solved.

I currently use one black pot from Lush because I had that at home.

This way the extra product stays safely closed and doesn't get contaminated by my hands and air.
I also put this huge tub into the fridge so it does survive a bit longer. :D

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

This is a very basic cream that is suitable for almost every type of skin.
It is pretty heavy cream and during hot summer nights may feel a tad too heavy.

But that's when I use a little bit less. I still use it as it's packed full of wonderful ingredients (mainly ceramides and hyaluronic acid) that I know my skin loves

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

One thing that I absolutely love about it, it's that the cream isn't scented. It has no scent. So when I feel a slight headache or am sensitive to certain scents, I have no problem using it.
Plus once absorbed it dries matte.

PROS:

+ Inexpensive (18€ /454g)
+ Unscented
+ Works wonderfully for restoring my skin's protective barrier
+ A staple in my skincare
+ Works well under makeup (doesn't slide)
+ You can use it for your body too!
+ If you prefer smaller packages, there are other options too!

CONS:

- Heavier texture may be a bit too much during summer

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Overall:

This is a very basic cream. There aren't really many of these out in the skincare world. Most brands put extra ingredients in their formulations. Extra scents, colouring, extra may-sound-fancy actives. But not with this cream. It's as simple as they can be.
I use it as my mostly night cream (in the morning I jump right to the sunscreen) and it works amazingly. If I apply too much it takes a bit to sink, but if I don't overdo it, it's fine.
My skin started to act up when I over abused it with too much retinol and then even this cream would burn at first. But now my skin finally got back to a healthy skin barrier and it's fine.
Now my skin is happy with my basic skincare regime - just a spray of a toner and a bit of this cream. And I'm set. In the morning I add sunscreen. It's as simple as it can get.

Overall I think it's a wonderful basic cream that would suit most skin types.  And if you're curious and want to try it for yourself, you can get it on Notino
