Vitamin C in Cosmetics

Today I want to focus on my favourite ingredient in the cosmetics I use. That's Vitamin C. I know, you may associate it with lemons and oranges and all the health benefits. But that's not the only beneficial thing about it.
I like adding vitamin C to my water when I'm feeling under the weather. It helps a lot!

But now let us see what it is used for in cosmetics.

Vitamin C in Cosmetics

Clear vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid is the most important vitamin C derivative used in the cosmetic industry. It’s an active ingredient which gets absorbed quickly into the skin and creates a protective shield that resists the effects of free radicals, toxins, and sunlight. Natural vitamin C can be found in the fruit of many plants (citruses, rosehips, or broccoli) and the beauty industry also uses its synthetic form. Ascorbic acid is an unstable matter and it’s only the modern technology that succeeded at making it stable, which is why this ingredient is considered a rediscovered natural wonder.

Actually, it's really amazing what vitamin C does in cosmetics. When applied topically it can help revitalize your skin, help slow early skin ageing, prevent sun damage (yes we want that!), and improve the appearance of dark spots, acne and wrinkles.

I remember when I first tried vitamin C serum. I didn't have high hopes for it but I was hoping for the best. And in a month or so, I noticed drastic improvements in my skin. It was softer, acne marks were almost gone, and my acne got better. I couldn't believe it. I mean just one particular ingredient and such a drastic change?

Missha Airy Fit Lemon

I always loved sheet masks and this lemon sheet mask is no different! I am a fan of the design on the packaging (feels fresh), but the best thing about it is the citrus extract that helps brighter acne spots.

Missha Airy Fit Sheet Mask Lemon formulated with lemon extract to provide luminosity to the face and improve the skin tone. Its ultra thin film guarantees high adhesion, helping active ingredients penetrate more easily to the deepest layer of the skin for intensive care. Treats skin with lack of light, provides hydration and nourishes in depth.

I think that preventive measures are even more important than trying to fix something when the damage is already done. That's why using sunscreen daily is the best habit you could ever have.

I felt that I got the most out of vitamin C when I use it before my daily sunscreen in a serum.
But luckily some companies heard us and now we don't have to apply a vitamin C serum before our sunscreen because there's vitamin C already in it!

One of such products is the Neutrogena Bright Boost Fluid.
