My 8 Favorite Makeup Items

My 8 Favorite Makeup Items

It's been a while since I sat down and just wrote. But it's been so long that I really wanted to share those items that I've been using since I got them. And by that, I mean that I've been using them for at least half a year and with some, even longer.

So, today, I wanted to share with you the makeup products that found their way into my daily looks.
Most of the time those are simple looks, but at the same time, those are the looks I feel comfortable in them. From bold pinks to light greens, I'm still wearing them all. :)

Anyway, here they are - My most used 8! That kind of sounds like a comic title, right? Sure, right.

My 8 Favorite Makeup Items

Since I switched jobs I was looking for makeup items that would survive working in a fast-paced serving job. Items that would survive lots of sweat and sometimes rubbing. And well, I think I found them!

EYE PRODUCTS

Nabla DIY Palette

I prefer my eyeshadows to be warm toned (or cool, depending on my mood, but mostly for daily looks I pick warm toned to complement my green eyes). I also like my mascara to be waterproof or some sort of that. I am also still trying to pan my Nabla palette. I love it dearly and I've finally managed to hit pan in one of the eyeshadows (Millenium!) which was a bittersweet moment for me.
It's the last item from my project pan. And I think I also have a lipstick from the project left. Hmm.

Nabla DIY Palette

What to say? It's a thing of beauty. I use daily the lightest eyeshadow which I practically smear all over my lids (don't judge) and call it a day. It's still magnificent as it has a light sheen.
Whenever I'm feeling a bit extra, I use the purple eyeshadow. But seldom as I would need to take 5 extra minutes to do it correctly and well, I'm mostly too lazy for that.

Makeup Revolution PRO Supreme Eyeshadow - Allure

This has to be my favourite mini palette. I am a big fan of the pigmentation, how easy it is to blend the eyeshadows and well, the colour of the eyeshadows. It is a well-loved palette. Now the lightest shade is almost gone and it breaks my heart. It's super soft and pigmented!
I also like to spice up my makeup looks with the golden eyeshadow (it's foiled) and the pink one (foiled too) which I apply with my fingers. Brushes don't really work with that sort of texture.
The black is untouched because I don't really use black in my daily looks.

Essence Volume Hero Mascara Waterproof

I have a love/hate relationship with this mascara. I am not a fan of the brush (as it's plastic and a bit rough - like those Bourjois brushes if anyone knows what I'm talking about?) and how quickly it dries out on me. But I am a fan of the formula. It applies nicely and I can easily layer it without it looking like spider lashes. I also feel like I ran out of it / dries out in about 2 months so I just keep buying it. I think I've bought about 3 or 4 of them until now. But the best thing is that it survives tears, some light rubbing and well, lots of sweat. Which is practically my life now? :D

Avon Mark Eyeshadow Primer

I used to love this thing. I still like it but I feel it doesn't work as great as it did before it being included in the Mark line. I'm not sure what is going on with that, but yeah. It still works on my hooded oily eyelids, but now the eyeshadows won't stay for a full day, but they will stay for about 5 hours before creasing. That's okay but I can get the same effect with other primers. I'll use this up and then I'll be back on the hunt. Or probably just go back to my Etude House Proof 10 primer. Hm?

EYEBROWS

Eyebrows are very important to make or break a whole look. Well, at least that's what they say. I'm still not too sure about it but I like to give my eyebrows a tad of colour.
My eyebrows used to be super light, so light that it was a bit scary. Nowadays they are a bit darker, but I still like some colour on them. Plus I have noticed that they look more polished the darker they are. I mean, it's easier to make them look nicer with a darker colour.

Catrice Eyebrow Colorist Mascara

This eyebrow mascara says that it will darken (colour) your eyebrows over time. And that's something it truly does. It also works nicely as a daily coloured eyebrows mascara for a quick fix.
I got it about 8 months ago and it's still going strong. I like how easy it is to use (one swype and you're done) and its great colour payoff. There's really nothing much to add.

Bonnie Choice Eyebrow Pencil

I used to be really scared of this brand as it's Chinese. I mean, yeah it sounds bad. Their market isn't as regulated as is the European and thus I was wary. But with use, I realized that this eyebrow pencil is pretty good. I like the spoolie on the other side because that makes the whole application a lot easier. But I guess I could get a similar effect with any other eyebrow pencil. Like the Catrice Eyebrow pencil - I remember really liking that one when I had lighter hair.

FACE MAKEUP

I was searching for "the one" foundation and I didn't give up until I found it. It has everything - the colour, the coverage and the lasting power.
Let's see what else is in my top picks for my face. :D

MAC Studio Fix Fluid NW13

I won't forget the day when I got matched at a MAC counter. I was pretty gross, hot and a bit sweaty as I was walking around the whole day. It was Summer and I was really trying not to tan. My foundation from that day already melted and I had some acne showing. Anyway, I was gross.
The lady cleaned my skin, applied some creams, primers and so on and at the end - the foundation.
And when I looked in the mirror there I was - with perfect skin. I was in awe. Like who is this? What is this?!
Anyway, I purchased it and loved it ever since. The only offputting thing about it (except the price) is the scent. It smells like paint. But because it looks so good, so natural on me, I can get over it.
When I was using it with a beauty blender I managed to use a whole bottle in less than 7 months. That's ... crazy! Now I just use my fingers and call it a day. I get lighter coverage this way, but now my skin isn't problematic anymore, so I'm ok with it. Anyway, I am a big fan and I already repurchased it.

MAC Powder Blush - Prism

I use it as a bronzer. It's cool toned and very sheer. I have to use a heavier hand while applying it and even if I hated it at first (because I was used to all the super pigmented bronzers out there), I learned to love it. The shade is just perfect for me as a bronzer. The biggest downside was the oil transfer - I had to use a bit of sticky tape to get the upper layer off so I could use it again. I know it's gross, but it is what it is.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - MEDIUM

This is practically a setting powder. I like it's texture, how light it feels and how well it covers a bit of redness (if I have any). I can also go barefaced with just a tad of this on my skin. It still looks pretty good! I, however, didn't like how it's not really meant for travelling. Not even just having it in your purse as it would crumble around the edges and stick to the mirror. I guess I am pretty lucky that it did survive for as long as it did. Even when I got the to the end of it - hit the pan - I had no idea that was the pan :D. Anyway, I liked using it, how dense it was, how luxurious it felt on my skin. But it didn't do much for those extra shiny areas. I mean, yes, they would stay at bay for a couple of hours, but once I started shining (like a bulb!), there isn't much to be done. Except pat it all off, clean, reapply.
Overall it enjoyed it and I wish it was cheaper :P.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - MEDIUM

Hm, I think this was it. I must admit that I dozed off a couple of times as I'm a bit out of practice when it comes to blogging, but I'll get back into it. After all, I've been doing this for the past 10 years. :)

Which item do you also use and why? Let me know in the comments below.
