Review: LUSH Coalface

Today's review is a face cleanser from LUSH. I bought mine two months ago, for 10€ for 150g.

Ingredients:
Liquorice Root Decoction (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Propylene Glycol, Rapeseed Oil; Sunflower Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Helianthus annuus; Cocos nucifera), Water (Aqua), Perfume, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Powdered Charcoal, Sandalwood Oil (Santalum austro-caledonicum vieill and Fusanus spicatus), Rosewood Oil (Aniba rosaeodora), Sodium Chloride, *Geraniol, *Linalool, Silver Edible Lustre}

Here is their official description:
Soothing licorice and charcoal cleansing bar.
Ground up charcoal is very good for your skin. It helps to absorb excess sebum from the skin's surface and acts as a mild exfoliator. We put it into CoalFace with skin softening licorice root with rosewood and sandalwood essential oils, both rumored to help cells regenerate and to slow the arrival of wrinkles. Although coal and diamond are both made of the carbon molecule, in this case, charcoal is a girl's (or boy's) best friend.

Right. By the description, you could say it is quite gentle, no? Not really, the cleanser is so rough I couldn't use it on my face.
Let me show you why:

Those pieces, or bumps are really really rough! I scratched the gentle skin on my body with it, and I have still marks from it!

So it is a bit too rough for your face, but why not use it on the harder parts of your body? As in knees, etc?
I use it for my butt, lol. I couldn't find a good enough peeling for that zone, because they would do nothing for me. But with this, my dears my skin has became smooth!!

It can be a bit messy, but nothing a good wash could not clean.

Face: I once tried it for my face, it made my skin squishy clean and tight. I didn't like the feeling since it made me break out the next morning, plus since it scratched my face any apply of products after it made my skin BURN! Here and there I use it for my T zone, it helps a tiny bit with blackheads.

Body: It made my butt super smooth!! Plus my knees and elbows. But it is too rough for other parts of my body.

The black residue it leaves behind

The idea behind this bar is superb, and I absolutely love it because it is BLACK. I really liked the idea of putting something BLACK and related to coal on my face, weird.

I cut my piece into smaller pieces, because this way it is easier to manage.
It doesn't melt all that quickly, tho it is not something that won't leather up.

The scent is pleasing, quite interesting. Maybe it smells a bit artificial, but since I won't be putting it anywhere near my face, I don't mind it.

Pros:
+ One piece goes a really long way
+ The scent is OK
+ It is BLACK
+ It helped clean the skin on my butt  (LOL)

Cons:
- Made me breakout
- Made my skin super dry
- Scratched my skin
- The ingredients aren't 'natural'
- It may be a bit pricey
- It leaves a mess behind

Rating: 2/5 ♥♥

Overall:
Well I will repurchase it, but not for my face. I mean I understand that it worked for some people, but it didn't for me. Tho it's great for certain areas of my body. If you have sensitive skin, stay away from it!
Even if it cleans well, it is too rough to be called a cleanser. It is more or less a rough peeling.
And honestly when I washed my face with it, I felt like if I were scratching it with diamonds, terrible terrible feeling!
