Review: Sephora Precision Sponge

Hi,

It's been a while since I got this sponge (back in April 2011), and since then I've maybe used it 5 times max.
Why?
Well there's just one reason - it's really hard to clean!

What it does:
Sephora Brand Sephora Precision Sponge makes it easy to achieve complexion perfection. Apply foundation, concealer, and blush with this advanced, contoured tool; you can even layer different colors strategically without mixing. Use the rounded end of the sponge to cover large areas of the face and the pointed end to reach trickier spots and angles. What else you need to know:This latex-free, antibacterial essential is hypoallergenic.

As you can see in the picture above, the sponge is dirty! Well not really, but it looks dirty :(.

Anyway, the sponge is a little yellow dense thing. I thought it would be so much easier to apply foundation with it (just like with a stippling brush), but truth to be told - it's not as good as I thought.

You are supposed to damp it before you use it. Well of course you can use it dry, but it will eat up so much more product.
There is almost no visible difference between it being dry or damp.

With it you apply your foundation the usual way - put some on the back of your palm, tap the sponge in and then tap all over your face. Or you can apply small dots of foundation on your face and then blend in with the sponge. In any way, it eats lots of product. I mean lots! More than 2x the amount you'd use normally. :(

I could live with all that, after all it does give you a nice flawless (and natural) finish! But...  I can't go pass by how dirty it is after each use...  plus the stains are almost impossible to get off!!

(this was after the application from the picture above)

When I first got it, I tested it once - dry. And then cleaned it for the sake of my life. It took me more than 30 minutes, some baby shampoo, some alcohol based MU remover (for brush cleansing) and some regular soap. It was almost 100% stain free. The next time I wasn't that lucky, there were stains all over it that didn't want to get off. And you're not supposed to wash it in hot water either, so it doesn't make things easy!

After all I cant use on my face something that looks dirty, even if it smells divine. :( That's why I realized this isn't for me. I think it's so hard to clean because it's extremely dense.

The sponge comes in this plastic case which is very useful for air drying the sponge - yay for one good thing!

Pros:
+ It's really pretty
+ Easy to use

Cons:
- Super hard to clean
- Gets stained easily
- Eats product (foundation)

Price: 3/5 ♥ (10€)
Rating: 2/5

Overall:
I have one suggestion - take your 10€ (that's how much it's worth) and add 5€ more and spend them on a stippling brush. Seriously. But if you already have it - it's not completely useless.

*This product was purchased by myself. My opinion is always honest.
