Nivea Caring Micellar Water - thoughts

As you may know, this is a product I was sent by the lovely Nivea PR.
I was really excited about it, simply because it's written on it that it's for dry to sensitive skin.

But what are my thoughts about it?
Read on.

I never thought about my skin as being sensitive, the contrary - I thought it was fine, strong and a bit mixed up. But nothing too special, you know?

It seems that micellar waters have proved me wrong, since, before this one, even the Corine de Farme micellar water did me more damage than good.

I used Nivea's micellar water in two different ways:
1. As a makeup remover
2. As a cleansing treatment (without water)

But... whenever I used it as a makeup remover, it would start burning my skin. It was even worse than with the Corine De Farme micellar water. I found it odd because I wasn't pulling and tugging my skin. Ah!

As for the cleansing part - I did that step in the morning and most of the times my skin was absolutely fine with it. No irritation.

My guess is that cleansing and removing heavy makeup must have created some micro wounds that then got irritated by the micellar water. Weird.

It really made me think hard about micellar waters in general. I was so sure that they are the perfect solution for everyone, instead of sometimes harsh and drying cleansing products. But I was wrong. Not everything is good for everyone. And it is the same with this product.
There are girls that I know who don't have any problems with Nivea's micellar water and swear by it, and then there's me, that it caused great discomfort.

Would I re-purchase it? Of course, not. But I am sure that there are many girls who would like it.

Here is the ingredients list (I had to type it myself, all the ingredient lists online weren't the correct ones):
Aqua, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil, Panthenol, Sorbitol, Decyl Glucoside, Glyceryl Glucoside, Poloxamer 124, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Chloride, Trisodium EDTA,  Polyquaternium-10, 1,2-Hexanediol, Citric Acid, Sodium Acetate, Phenoxyethanol

There's nothing else to add, except that I used the whole bottle thinking that it may be just an initial reaction to something (it wasn't). Now I'll stay wary of micellar waters for a little bit...

Did you have a similar reaction to any micellar water?

This product was sent to me by the company itself or its PR. For more information, please do read my Disclosure Policy. My opinion is always honest.
