Review: Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Devoted

Hello lovelies,

It's time for another review of an Evil Shades lipstick. This time, it's the last one I have got named Devoted.

Official description:
Devoted- Semi sheer nude with subtle shimmer

I must say I had quite a bit of a problem applying this one. It is very sheer and when I wanted to pack it on it became streaky. Even blending the color with my finger didn't help me. Plus it made show up all of the dry skin on my lips. I had no idea I had any since I swatched all the other lipsticks and it didn't show up at all. Oh well.  I guess you have to have super duper moisturized lips prior applying it.

Swatch on hand

You can see it is more yellow (orange) than pink. So it's not the best match for my neutral (well with more pink than yellow so let's call it beige) undertone.

Nude lips

Swatched on them

I am really not a big fan of its formula. I wish it was easier to apply on evenly and it would come in a more peachy tone. But it does conceal my lips quite a bit.

Sadly because of the concealer effect all the dry bits show up and ruin my look.

Pros:
+ It is moisturizing
+ It is cheap

Cons:
- Hard to layer on
- Shows all the dry parts of the lips
- I am not a big fan of this color
- Not very long lasting

Price 4/5  ($5.5 were the old tubes, the new ones are $4.25)

Overall
Even if I really liked most of the lipsticks I tried out (especially Ardour!) I didn't like this one. It just makes my lips look dry and chapped (when they clearly weren't!) and it really didn't suit my skin tone. Well, of course, I can't expect it would match every single person on the planet, but an orange undertone for a nude lipstick isn't my cup of tea. It was also quite hard to work with it, but it did give my lips a whole lot of moisturizing effect!
